The Charlotte Observer Features Op-Ed on Shapiro Arato’s Presidential Debates Case
On April 13, 2017, the editorial board of The Charlotte Observer published an op-ed, which discusses the lawsuit filed by Shapiro Arato on behalf of Level the Playing Field, Peter Ackerman, the Green Party of the United States and the Libertarian National Committee to open up the presidential debates so that a candidate who is not affiliated with the Democratic or Republican party may participate. The board opines that, “We hope the result of all this is a process by which a legitimate independent or third-party candidate can get a crack at participating in at least the first presidential debate in 2020.”
